Old Pregnant Mare Gives Birth To Miracle Twin Foals

You all know that twin pregnancy in horses is very delicate and a lot of time it is very dangerous. “While animals of many species routinely give birth to multiple healthy offspring from one pregnancy, horses are not designed to nourish two fetuses and produce viable twin foals.

Double pregnancies put the mare and both foals at risk, and good outcomes are rare,” says  Kentucky Equine Research.  It is even more complicated when the mare is at an older age, like the example that we have here of the American paint horse Tiki.

Twin foals are an extremely rare occurrence. In fact, only about one in 10,000 cases result in twin foals. Of those, only about nine percent will be carried to term. Not only that, but the fact Tiki was 16 years old when she gave birth made her an “older” mom. Now you all got the idea about how rare the birth of these twins was.

They are both two amazing beautiful creatures that everyone would like to have around. Mother horse seems really proud of them.
