During her visit, the Duchess christened an adorable newborn donkey foal named Sweet Pea. The precious filly, born just three weeks earlier, arrived at the sanctuary after her mother was rescued by the charity. Baker continued, “But we must acknowledge the massive challenges that remain. The suffering of animals around the world remains unconscionable.” The visit provided an important platform to introduce Her Royal Highness to members of the International Coalition for Working Equids (ICWE), an organization dedicated to partnering with the World Organisation for Animal Health.
The ICWE brings together leading animal welfare nonprofits, including the Donkey Sanctuary, Brooke, SPANA, and World Horse Welfare, to advance equine welfare on a global scale.
