In one of the most heartwarming equestrian celebrations we’ve heard about, two adorable ponies recently tied the knot in an elaborate wedding ceremony that would make any horse lover smile. Daisy, a 15-year-old Welsh Section A mare, and Raffie, a 22-year-old groom, exchanged vows in a ceremony complete with bridesmaids, pageboys, musical performances, and even wedding cake—all organized by their young owners!
Love Before Goodbye
Best friends Lucy Wells and Georgie Orgill, just 10 years old, came up with the idea to celebrate their ponies’ bond in the most special way possible. With Raffie nearing retirement age and the possibility of rehoming on the horizon, Lucy and Georgie wanted to honor the deep connection their ponies share before their time together changes. “They wanted them to get married to confirm their love before it was too late,” explained Lucy’s mum, Chrissy Wells, who runs South Brockwells Farm and livery yard in Sussex.

A Two-Hour Celebration Packed with Details
What started as a creative solution to a cancelled Pony Club camp turned into an unforgettable two-hour extravaganza. Lucy, Georgie, and Lucy’s seven-year-old sister Daisy planned every single detail—from writing heartfelt vows to choreographing a musical ride in the sand school as the couple’s first dance. The attention to detail was impressive, with roughly ten children serving as bridesmaids, pageboys, a maid of honor, and ushers, each with an important role to play.
The vows? Pure comedy gold. “They involved sharing bales of hay,” Chrissy laughed, remembering the hilarious moment when the young riders read their handwritten promises aloud. It was the perfect blend of tradition and pony-themed fun that had everyone grinning from ear to ear.

A Special Tribute to Family
Daisy’s bridal outfit was sourced from a local charity shop, but the most meaningful piece came straight from the heart. The bride pony wore a beautiful veil that once belonged to Chrissy’s late mother—a treasured family heirloom that had special significance.
“We lost my mum about nine years ago and she would have loved nothing more than seeing the veil put to good use like this,” Chrissy shared warmly. It was the perfect way to honor her memory while celebrating the girls’ creativity and their love for their ponies. Daisy even sported makeup for the occasion, looking every bit the blushing bride!

A Celebration for Everyone
No proper wedding is complete without cake and refreshments, and this pony celebration was no exception. The young organizers prepared a special wedding tea with cake for both their human guests and the ponies themselves—talk about making sure everyone felt included in the celebration!
From the vows to the first dance, from the bridesmaids to the reception, every element reflected the genuine love and creativity these young equestrians poured into honoring their beloved ponies. It’s a beautiful reminder of why we fall in love with horses and ponies in the first place—they touch our hearts and inspire us to celebrate the special bonds we share with them.

If this heartwarming pony wedding didn’t just make your day a little brighter, we don’t know what will! It’s these kinds of creative, loving gestures that remind us why the equestrian community is so special. Here’s to Daisy and Raffie—may their union inspire more pony lovers to celebrate their four-legged friends in equally creative ways!
