The bond between a horse and rider is something truly magical—something that can’t be explained in words, heard in a sound, or tasted on your tongue. It can only be felt in your heart. Today, we’re sharing an emotional story that will resonate with every equestrian who’s ever experienced the profound connection between horse and human.
When Lease Agreements End: The Heartbreak Behind the Goodbye
Emily and Jester’s lease has come to an end, and their story is a powerful reminder of why so many of us dedicate our lives to horses. From the moment Emily met Jester, she was completely smitten. She showered him with love and attention, perfecting her jumping technique and building memories that will last a lifetime.
“I have just stuck with her and loved her to death!” Emily’s friend shared, capturing the essence of their incredible partnership. Not only will Emily miss those jumping sessions at the barn, but she’ll miss Jester himself—what a fabulous horse he was.

Watch Their Story Unfold
This video captures the emotional reality of ending a lease with a horse you’ve grown to love. It’s a tearful goodbye, but a testament to the strength of the human-equine bond.

A New Chapter: The Journey Continues
Update: After saying goodbye to Jester, Emily took a brave step forward and purchased her own horse, a beautiful gelding named Tango. However, Emily’s equestrian journey took an unexpected and devastating turn when Tango was diagnosed with Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM), a parasitic disease that affected his neurological function, causing severe coordination problems and instability.
After just four months of ownership, Emily made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to Tango as well. This loss compounded the grief she was already carrying from her lease ending with Jester.
