How a Community Made a 7-Year-Old’s Horse Dream Come True
Childhood should be filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. But for seven-year-old Alexus Lasiter, life has been quite different. Living with multiple health challenges including cerebral palsy, Asperger’s syndrome, a seizure disorder, and cardiac and kidney complications, Alexus has spent far more time in hospitals than she has enjoying the simple pleasures of childhood.
Determined to bring light and happiness into their daughter’s life, Alexus’ parents came up with a beautiful idea: they would ask the community to help fulfill two of Alexus’ greatest loves—horses and receiving mail from others.
A Facebook Page Brings Hope and Connection
What started as a simple request on a Facebook page called “Horses for Lex” soon blossomed into something truly magical. Alexus’ mother, Wathena, reached out to friends and followers, hoping to brighten her daughter’s days. But what happened next exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations.
People from across the globe discovered Alexus’ story and wanted to be part of her journey. The outpouring of love and support was overwhelming in the best possible way—messages, artwork, and encouragement flooded in from horse lovers and kind-hearted individuals who were moved by her story.

When Dreams Meet Reality
As the movement grew, Alexus’ story reached Becky Ann Ross, the compassionate owner of Alpha Horse Boarding Complex in Riverview, Florida. While Becky appreciated the beautiful horse drawings and artwork that Alexus had created, she recognized something deeper—this little girl didn’t just need pictures of horses; she needed the real thing.
Becky’s decision to step in and make Alexus’ horse dream a reality sparked one of the most touching moments imaginable. What began as a wish became a life-changing gift.
