The equestrian community mourns the loss of Tracey Pritchard, a passionate horsewoman and cherished member of the Welsh riding world. On February 22nd, the 48-year-old mother tragically passed away following a road collision involving two vehicles and a loose horse on the A495 in Bronington, North Wales. Despite receiving immediate medical attention and spending two precious final days surrounded by family, Tracey’s injuries proved too severe.

A Life Lived With Passion and Purpose
Tracey’s family released a heartfelt statement describing her as a “generous, kind and loving” woman who “lived life to the full.” Growing up in Whitchurch, North Wales, Tracey became a well-known local figure—even serving as a former Whitchurch Carnival Queen. She eventually moved to West Felton, where she established and ran a successful cleaning business while remaining deeply connected to her roots.
“She was a mad horse and dog lover, who also enjoyed archery and attending music festivals,” her family shared. This passion for horses wasn’t merely a hobby—Tracey was a respected and beloved member of the local equestrian community, known for her active participation in the Oswestry riding club.

A Champion of Carriage Driving
Among her many equestrian pursuits, Tracey had a particular love for carriage driving and was a dedicated Pony Club enthusiast. Her involvement in these disciplines showcased her commitment to horsemanship and her desire to share the joy of horses with others in her community.

A Family-Oriented Heart
Beyond her equestrian pursuits, Tracey was profoundly devoted to her family. She was a doting and adoring mother to her only son, whom she loved dearly and took great pride in. Her family emphasized that she was “very much family orientated” and treasured her roles as a devoted mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, and friend.

Gratitude and Remembrance
Tracey’s family expressed their deep gratitude to the first responders who came to her aid during those critical moments. “Tracey’s family would like to personally thank all of the services who helped her: the off-duty paramedic and the ambulance, police and fire services,” the statement read. “Their actions allowed Tracey’s immediate family to spend two valuable days with her before she sadly passed away.”
They also commended the doctors and nurses at The Royal Stoke University Hospital, who provided compassionate care for both Tracey and her grieving family during an unimaginably difficult time.
A Legacy of Love
Tracey Pritchard’s passing is a sobering reminder of the risks riders and equestrian enthusiasts face on roadways. While her life was tragically cut short, those who knew her remember a vibrant, generous soul who embraced every moment and lived authentically. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her—the horse community, her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her generous, joyful life.
The equestrian world extends its heartfelt condolences to Tracey’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
