Young Rider Tabitha Kyle & Giant Horse Dominate Children’s Classes

When it comes to finding the perfect equestrian partnership, sometimes magic happens in the most unexpected ways. Just ask 11-year-old Tabitha Kyle and her powerhouse mount, Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill—a nine-year-old Irish-bred gelding who’s stealing hearts and winning ribbons across international competitions.

This dynamic duo has quickly become one of the most impressive combinations in the children’s show jumping circuit, and their recent performances prove they’re here to stay. At the CSI2* Chepstow Spring International, Tabitha and her towering horse delivered nothing short of spectacular results, showcasing a partnership that defies the conventional wisdom about matching young riders with smaller mounts.

    Double Victory at Chepstow

The pair’s outstanding performances at Chepstow didn’t go unnoticed. They claimed victories in two separate classes—first conquering the speed class with impressive precision, then delivering the ultimate performance with a clean first-round jump in the children-on-horses Grand Prix. Perfect Control, Perfect Chemistry

What makes Tabitha’s riding truly impressive is her natural ability to handle a horse of Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill’s stature and presence. Team manager Clare Whitaker has watched this young rider flourish and was quick to praise her exceptional horsemanship. Despite riding such a powerful beast, Tabitha demonstrates remarkable control and confidence in the saddle—qualities that don’t always come naturally at just 11 years old.

    A Serendipitous Beginning

The story of how Tabitha came to ride this magnificent horse is every young rider’s dream. The gelding was actually loaned from accomplished British rider Holly Smith, one of the country’s top equestrians. According to Tabitha’s father Mark, the arrangement came together almost by chance: “We got him through a fortunate connection when we were riding a couple of ponies for Holly and Graham Smith. We simply asked if they had a horse we could use for the children-on-horses tour in Liér, and generously, they offered Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill.”

    International Success from Day One

What’s truly remarkable is how quickly this partnership has achieved success at the international level. Tabitha and Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill made their international debut together in Liér, Belgium, and immediately impressed by bringing home another trophy. This instant chemistry speaks volumes about both the young rider’s talent and the gentle nature of her mount.

A Gentle Giant Thrives in Big Rings

Despite his imposing size and powerful build, Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill has proven himself to be a remarkably kind and calm partner. Tabitha noted that her horse actually performs better in larger rings—perhaps the expansive arenas give him more room to showcase his natural athleticism. What might appear to be a “tough” exterior hides a genuinely sweet temperament that has consistently demonstrated his abilities across every competition he’s entered.

The bond between this young rider and her borrowed horse is a testament to the magic that happens when skill, courage, and mutual respect come together in the saddle. As Tabitha continues her climbing trajectory in the show jumping world, we can’t wait to see what other victories await this unforgettable partnership!
